Property Description:
Established in 1902, The Last Resort offers a perfect "get away from it all" vacation, providing an absolute wilderness atmosphere for the adventurous type who desires to be close to nature and away from the hustle and bustle of city and suburban life.

Nestled among our 70 acres of spruce, cedar, pine and birch trees are eight rustic log cabins and four primitive tent sites. Each cabin has a front porch overlooking the lake and commands a spectacular view of the mountain range across the lake and awe inspiring sunsets.

Our hand-hewn log cabins are well spaced for a maximum of privacy, and each is equipped with an outdoor campfire pit and picnic table.

They are fully supplied for housekeeping, with gas ranges, refrigerators, heaters and lamps. Cooking and eating utensils, sheets, pillow cases, blankets and pillows are provided. All you need to bring are food, personal items, towels and good weather.

Each cabin has fluorescent lighting supplied by generator-powered electricity from dusk until 10:00 PM each evening. Sparkling spring water is available at nearby faucets, where you can fill your 5-gallon spigot water jugs for use in your cabin. Each cabin has its own conveniently located outhouse, and additional portable toilets are brought in and serviced weekly during the summer. There is also a centrally located shower house with three separate shower rooms for your hot showers.

Our small campground consists of four tent sites nestled in the forest under tall spruce and pine trees, and are the closest legal distance to the shoreline (approximately 150 feet). The sites are designed to accommodate one small to medium size tent each.

Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit with a grate. Tent campers can take their showers and fill their own water carriers at the shower house in the main camp area. The main lodge is about a five-minute walk away, where there is access to a phone, as well as our small store, games, pool table and library.

The Last Resort cove is shallow, safe for children and an excellent attraction for the moose, deer, otters, ospreys, loons, herons and the bald eagles that can be seen from your cabin porch.

Explore our woodland paths, marvel at the array of wildflowers and catch your breath when a moose steps out of the woods to greet you. Better yet, hop in a canoe and take some pictures of the moose as they dine at the Lake shore or just watch them from your cabin porch. For lazy day activities, guest can enjoy a variety of board games and books available at the lodge.

We hope to hear from you soon so that you can reserve your memorable vacation in the Maine North Woods.
